Avoiding Mergers: I think this photo brings out avoiding mergers because nothing in the backround really disturbes you from the story that the photographer is trying to bring out. Also it gets the full body image of the people in the picture.

The rule of thirds: This photo shows simplicity because of the how the man looks like he's walking out of the picture. Also when you cut the pages into the three lines going vertically and horizontally the people on the side fit right in.

Simplicity: This photo shows simplicity because it pretty much cuts off the stuff thats not important. It's main focus is the elderly man, and the flag, and the photographer captures it, and makes sure that he is the center of attention.

Framing: With All the boxes, and the yellow tape surrounding the man, it makes it have good framing and kinda putting that frame around the man. Making him the center of it, where your eye catches.

Lines : The destructed building behind george bush points out the lines that reach to the top of his head, and point all towards him.

Balance: In this photo you could see that you would be able to divide this photo in half, its not perfectly symmetrical but really close to it.
